The teachers’ strike in France on Thursday, January 13, 2022, supported by student unions and parents, was a victory for the teachers’ unions. The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations (CCITTA), on behalf of teachers in Iran,
congratulates the strikers on this success.
Following the strike, four inter-union teachers’ syndicates (members of Intersyndicale) announced in a joint statement that they would hold a nationwide protest on January 27, 2022. They are demanding an end to the government’s non-enforceable protocols in schools regarding COVID-19, additional government recruitments due to needs and shortages in various sectors, and an increase in wages.
These demands are quite tangible for teachers in Iran who suffer from discrimination and who are struggling to raise wages and improve the quality of education. We strongly support our colleagues in France and call on the French government to pay due attention to these demands.
The Coordinating Council (CCITTA) appreciates the support and solidarity of French teachers and syndicates and expresses our solidarity with them and hopes that their demands will be met.
